Silent Key

I am very sad to inform that Mirek Rozbicki SP5IXI (VK6DXI, 7X0DX, 9M8DX, Z21DXI etc.)  passed on April 14 from a heart attack. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends. It happened so suddenly and shocked all of us. Our great HAM, great friend and an example of HAM Spirit is Silent Key for ever.

I can confirm QSOs from Mireks’s logs I have (bureau, direct). All of them are also uploaded to the LoTW and are available at the ClubLog. These are:

Unfortunately I have no logs for VK6DXI. Mirek used to confirm all of home QSOs himself.

Open House at One Communications KL

One Communications HQ and show room at Shah Alam Selangor

Today 2014.08.13 happened to be an open house at the local Ham Radio shop: One Communications. I was taken there my Azraie, work colleague, who recently got a licence as  9W2EFY.  We were able to meet up with the owner Roslan Rashid 9W2KDU as well as one of his stuff Fadzil Omar 9W2SMF . There was a lot of food, including roasted lamb and famous Tea Teree, Malaysian specialty.  It is a nice set up and Roslan can supply any of the latest radios from major suppliers. There is also a ham radio training  course run on the premises for future hams.

QRV as Z21DXI again

1_DSC03248 I am in Zimbabwe since 14th of July and should remain till 3rd of August. I have a radio with me and operate in my spare time. Conditions at the moment are terrible. I am lucky to hear some stations sometimes. I have done some improvement to antennas but so far very few stations in the log. It has never been that bad here…. I hope to get at least few days of a reasonable propagation before I will leave. …keeping fingers crossed.

CQWW CW 2013- summary

It has been a few great days in Kuching!!!

I managed to catch up with few of my friends: 9M8MA, 9W8CH, 9W8KIF, 9M8WAT and met for a first time with 9M8ADX. Great stories, great food and some great QSO’s. With the assistance of Keith 9W8KIF we put up a sloping LW to cover 160-40m bands with a  use of AH4 tuner. Location of the sloper was what I have done in the past. I did not notice at first but now there is a big neon sign with hotel name. (see picture) This gave me a bit of noise on 80/40/30m bands and completely “disabled” 160m. Oh well, can’t win them all. I operated as LPAB Assisted and had a thrill. Not as many pile ups as in the past, as I think low power stations slowly disappear in the QRO noise. My score is as per attached.  I also managed to have a real feast of the durians which happen to be in season at this time of the year. What a great trip 🙂
